IN CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!
DON’T JUST BE A WOMAN! BE A PHENOMENAL WOMAN.
“A phenomenal woman is purposeful and passionate. She is driven by her thoughts and makes her thoughts a reality. A phenomenal woman has imperfections. She is phenomenal for what she does with her imperfections; she is phenomenal because she is true to herself.
“It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent.” — Madeleine Albright
“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture, and transform.” —
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY IN ADVANCE.
Mrs. Ajoke Enebeli (EPI Rivers State Coordinator): welcome and appreciates all EPI members and guests for the Love Feast and encourage the spirit of active participation among members. There are great women here.
Mrs Mercy Bello Abu’s Address Speech: EPI started since 2016 till date and still running for 4years. Today is a very special day, a forum where women celebrate, share their common vision and interest with one voice. Women need to make use of their time, channel their time to productive activities. As we celebrate International Women Day, we hope women will realized that they are “COMPLETE” even without a man. We join the rest of the world to celebrate International Women’s Day coming up on the 8th March 2020. This is women’s month and it’s amazing IWD was initiated since 1931 and it’s still striving.
Women, we self-sabotage, but it is time for us to come together to ensure Gender-Balance; for us as women, the time is now, if our voice must be heard. Nobody will listen to us; except we bring out our values as women. For the campaign for IWD #EachForEqual, we collectively need each other, each of us must project our uniqueness and make a difference in the society. As a woman, you need to work twice/thrice for you to be heard (have a voice). As a woman, what do you do to own that space, because women must own that space, women must be intentional? Nobody will give you power, power is something you take, you must fight for it. Each and everyone of us, must strive to make a difference, despite the challenges and you must know that every stage comes with a challenge.
The master of ceremony (Miss Caroline), added “As a Woman, don’t play the victim’s game and know that you are not the mercy of anybody”. “Women have the capacity to retain information and work it out for better result”.
Dr. Cecilia (Mental Health Specialist): Depression: for some of us, even if we are good looking outside, we are depressed inside. Research has shown that, women are more depressed. What is Depression? Depression is simply a mental disorder (mode disorder). We have “Mind Depression, Moderate Depression and Severe Depression”. How do you know a woman is depressed? Some women become “Hyper-Active”, some begin to over-react, sometimes, the feeling of helplessness, hopelessness, appetite or weight changes. Remember women work 360 degrees (they work round the clock). Stress causes depression. We should strategize to manage stress. “It’s not easy anywhere, but we should plan our time-table”. Let’s know our limits. Talk to someone you can trust, if you are depressed. Husbands should to encourage their wives. “WOMEN SHOULD BE PROUD TO BE A WOMAN”. 95% of women are bread winners. “WOMEN ARE GOOD MANAGERS”. Research has proven that; women are good managers. Package yourself well, you don’t need to spend much to look good. For some people, when they are depressed, they take substance(s). some men/women go into drug-abuse, because they are depressed. IT IS ADVISABLE FOR EVERY WOMAN TO FIND SOMETHING DOING.
Dr. Cecilia: Wellness; is optimal well-being. We have spiritual wellness, emotional wellness, intelligent wellness among others. BE A SMART CONSUMER. Exercise three times a week, eat varieties of food, learn to control anger, all these, promote well-being. Living well increases life-expectancy.
EPI Member: “If you must be well in everything, you must give balance attention”.
Mercy Bello Abu “Leadership is responsibility and it’s never convenient” her remark to the newly inaugurated EXCOs of EPI.
Emeka Unachukwu (CEO-DEVELOP U): he championed the inauguration of the new EXCos and he shared some words of wisdom to encourage them to give their best. In his words “all of us are born with different values, as Leaders and special people like EPI, yes you are Leaders, but the best type of leadership is “Servant/Service Leadership”. There is nothing you do in life that is in vain, have the courage to engage.
MERCY BELLO ABU (NIGERIA’S LEADING FEMALE ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND LIFE COACH).
