Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria will host a symposium titled ‘On Debates and Democracy’ on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 10am at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja to commemorate its 12th anniversary. The focus of the conversation is to explore how political debates contribute to democracy via citizens’ engagement; the necessity of a legal requirement; the role of the media and the role of political parties.
The symposium will feature a keynote address by Janet Brown, the Executive Director of the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), the body that hosts all presidential debates in the US. In her capacity as the Executive Director of CPD, our keynote speaker, Janet Brown, has directed the organisation of 33 presidential and vice presidential debates, and provided technical support to debate groups in over 40 countries.
The event will also feature a media panel with different debate moderators – Maupe Ogun-Yusuf, Ngozi Alaegbu, Reuben Abati, Seun Okinbaloye, and Mac Imoni Amarere – in conversation with Segun Adeniyi; and a debate panel with Babatunde Fashola, Federal Minister of Works & Housing and former Lagos State governor; Mercy Tosin Ayodele, 2018 Osun governorship election candidate; Eddie Emessiri, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Election Debate Group (NEDG), and ‘Yemi Adamolekun, Executive Director, Enough is Enough Nigeria (EiE).
Mr Fashola’s role is particularly important as it is a classic case study of the power of debates. He’s the “most debated” politician in Nigeria’s history, going from an ‘unknown’ chief of staff to a candidate to be reckoned with, the more he participated in debates.

2023 Elections: EiE Nigeria Rolls Out #MakeNaijaWork Campaign

Foremost good governance and civic advocacy organisation, EiE Nigeria, has officially flagged off its 2022-2023 elections campaign.
Under the aegis of the group’s flagship initiative #RSVP – Register | Select | Vote-not-fight | Protect, the multilayered campaign kicked off on February 2, 2022, with a series of media engagements, including a Twitter Spaces conversation.
Themed, #MakeNaijaWork, the 13-month campaign is a clarion call to Nigerians to seize the golden opportunity to decide and elect credible leaders by registering to vote and selecting candidates based on defined criteria – courage, compassion, competence, capacity & character.
Speaking on the core objective of the campaign, the organisation’s Executive Director, ‘Yemi Adamolekun stated: “We spend so much time asking why we are yet to make socio-political progress but the answer is clear: We are yet to strategically occupy our Office of the Citizen. We are yet to understand that this is the highest office in Nigeria because elected and appointed public servants serve us. They are called public servants for a reason – to serve the public! Elections provide an opportunity to determine our servants!
Launched in the month of love, #MakeNaijaWork asks that we show love to our country by engaging in the process to make her work for the benefit of all. If we love Nigeria, we should do all that we can to make her work, which includes registering to vote, voting wisely and holding our public servants accountable!

There is what is called: a) Panel Code (Practiced in the North) and b) Criminal Code (Practiced in the South). These Panel Codes are the beginning of Police brutality in Nigeria, mostly in the South.
Panel Code: The Public/People decides and report to the Police to enforce and this is the practice in Northern Nigeria.
Criminal Code: Gives the Police the right to enforce the law without the consent of the people/public and this practice is common in Southern Nigeria.
Audience in Attendance
We should also note that, the Police are Civil Servants; They are different from the Military. The presence of the Civilian Joint Task Force was acknowledged for the great work they are doing in the state, though their presence is more in the North. The Illegal Refineries destructions in some part of Rivers State is done by the Civilian J-T-F, even if they are not given the credit most times. The Civilian J-T-F was led by the National Commander,South South Adah Nwachukwu with his entourage. The Nigerian Peace Corp, Rivers State Command, was represented by the State Commandant- Dr. Obiora Michael with his entourage. Finally, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State was represented by SP. Ojo Lawrence, who engaged the audience on the relationship of the Police and the Communities. It was well attended and an awesome experience.

Look at Cheating in two ways: a) Destructive b) Discovery path If that your EX was that GOOD, you should have married that EX. Start over and build a life with your spouse. The EX-thing has to end. Question 1. How did you start the journey of Ultimate Guilder Search? Answer 1: My journey to GUS started when I saw the advert on my Facebook. I started applying immediately because I didn’t want to take any chance as I’ve been waiting for the opportunity. I went through the rigorous regional selection and the final screening at Lagos. Long story cut short, I succeeded in all of these and made it into the jungle.
Question 2. Becoming the Last Woman Standing, how does it make you feel? Answer 2: It feels good being the Last Woman Standing but not fulfilled as that wasn’t my target.
Question 3. You are obviously a Role Model to a lot young people, what project(s) do you intend to embark on? Answer 3: I intend to embark on projects that encourage legit empowerment but my area of interest is that of Women Empowerment and Girl Child Education.

Question 4. As a promoter of Girl Power, what you do think of the Child Right Act and what plans do you have to promote Self awareness and discovery amongst Girl Child? Answer 4: The Girl Right Act is a law that should not be found wanting in the constitution of any country. Female discrimination and marginalisation should be discouraged at all cost because being a female is not a disability. I intend to work with NGOs that promote women empowerment and girl child education. In the long run, I’ll establish a foundation that will promote self discovery and confidence amongst the female gender.
Question 5. Can you tell us a bit about your background, family and future plans? Answer 5: I come from a family of six (three siblings and my parents) and I’m the LASTBORN. Things were tough for us while growing up but we conquered with love and support from one another. I had my primary school education at my home town in Imo State. My secondary school was in Onitsha. I studied Public Administration and Local Government at University of Nigeria Nsukka. I plan furthering my studies in Human Resources Management. I’m also planning to go into acting while running a business and most importantly, establishing a foundation for girl child education and women empowerment. Thank you for having me here!

VENUE: LANDMARK HOTEL, PORT HARCOURT TIME: 9:00AM PROGRESS REPORT: Opening prayer was taken by Smith Nwokocha and then, a general introduction of participating members, including all technical working group members. The first quarter of the meeting was moderated by Mrs. Edna Alete, while the meeting objective was read by Mrs. Uloma (Adolescent Desk Officer, RSPHCMB); which includes the following: Objectives of the Agenda:

Rivers State Policy Domestication Process: The Rivers State Ministry of Health (RMOH) in collaboration with various MDA’s and partners, commenced the process and adaptation in September 2021. Advocacy and Stakeholder’s Engagements. Advocacy Courtesy Visit. Situational Analysis of Adolescent Health and Development. The Review Process: A four (4) day UNICEF funded meeting was conducted on the 19th – 22nd October, 2021. Development of the Draft Rivers State Implementation Plan (Informal Reviews via Skype). Where We Are? Presentation by Dr. Adebayo Emmanuel Situation Analysis of Adolescents and Young people’s Health and Development in Rivers State. Overall, one thing that was very prominent, was “lack of dissemination of information”, because of indiscriminate documentation. For the first time in Nigeria, we are beginning to include Adolescent indicators. Adolescents are properly captured, going forward. We should know that, 50% of the population are Adolescents ranging from the age of 10 – 24 years. Increase in non-communicable diseases, because children are involved in lesser physical activities. Sexual activity, contraception, unintended pregnancy and abortion among young people. Early marriage and child-bearing, co-habiting is on the increase. AYP HIV Cascade (Number of people living with HIV). FLHE is the most effective approach in Nigeria at the moment, but implementation has been slow. FLHE have trained teachers/students alike. Substance Use is very high in Rivers State. It has led to high increase of admission in clinics (psychological clinics). Accidents and Hymocide; high rate of mortality for young boys in particular. Communicable diseases account for 41% – 43% causes of death in Rivers State. School Healthcare System Response; if a school health system works very well (youth friendly facilities/services); young people will become healthy and healthier. Rivers State has a document that strictly addresses the Adolescents (Rivers State Strategic Health Development Plan). There is more to Adolescents than Sexual Reproductive Issues.

Dr. Adebayo Emmanuel added, “just because something is a good idea, does not mean, it’s sustainable”. Come new Government, comes new policies. Government can’t do everything, hence, the need for partners. In closing and to do a formal adoption of the validated document; Dr. (Mrs) Smith, thanked everyone present, partners and CHAI for helping us fill this gap. Since, 2021 we came together to carve out a roadmap and niche for our Adolescents. There were facilities, vision and structure for that phase. We are on a cause of defining the personalities of our Adolescents. The Chairperson, Rivers Media For Health ( Mrs. Jenewari Utomi-Harry), in her remark, emphasized that as Professionals inaugurated by two Development Partners (The Challenge Initiative and DevCom); our aim as a Network is to amplify and enhance the visibility of the activities in the health sector as well as support and work with the State Government to achieve more. Some of the achievement of the Network was highlighted; more awareness, conversations, messages and features on Family Planning have increased in the State and over 300 Rivers Citizens have been vaccinated through the effort of the nework in collaboration with Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, including Roundtables with stakeholders, and the Secretary of the network (Tonye Dappa) added that Rivers Media For Health will appreciate Support from the Ministry including financial support to help the network embark on more projects in Partnership with the State Government. THE SERMON: During the sermon at the January Central Healing Service with Pastor Isaac V. Olori (International Director of the ministry), at the Greater Evangelism World Crusade (GEWC) Headquarters in Port Harcourt. The Man of God called to remembrance the ministry’s year theme: “A Glorious Church”. Speaking on the topic “Strength in the Inner Man”, God’s servant emphasized that, for anyone to be part of the Glorious Church, you must possess inner strength, He took his text from Ephesians 3:16-20 (KJV). As a Man, you have two parts (Outer Man and Inner Man); Some of the strength of the Outer Man is based on the Strength of the Inner Man. Drawing example from the Bible character Samson who had no strength in the Inner Man. ‘’ For By strength shall no man prevail”. 1 Samuel 2:9. The Glorious Church is a function of the strength of you Inner Man, which works more with Faith. PURITY and POWER that’s what the Glorious Church represents. The Devil doesn’t respect any man or your activities and that’s why in all you do get the strength of the Inner Man. We must seek for the strength of Inner Man, because it’s what dislodges the Devil. Joseph was strong in the Inner Man and that’s the reason he prevailed in everything that challenged him. To be strengthened is to amplify your Inner Man to command a mighty power. Your strength is determined by what you carry inside, not the outside. As we are just counting the years, you will not have bankruptcy in the Inner Man. Ezekiel 43; To be flooded with the Supernatural Power of God. Those who have Inner strength do not have the strength to quarrel or fight. When Strength flows inside, it affects the outside. Victory is Sure for those with inner strength.
God exceeds our expectations and that’s our prayer this year. God’s capacity is far bigger than any problem(s) of man. We are the type that celebrates Victory over Problems…This year! The example of David and Goliath; Goliath had all the physical embodiment, but David came to him in the name of God of Israel and he got victory. When you carry strength inside, everything you decree becomes Law. You need prayer for the strength inside. Some of the indices of Inner Weaknesses are Lying, Cheating, Malice etc. One of the ways to re-kindle your inner strength is to study the word of God. As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary we will be embarking on “SOUL-WINNING”. Efforts and resources will be channelled to Soul-winning; Soul-Winning in Local, Zonal and District level. This Year we will be busy, but busy with winning souls. THIS ANNIVERSARY YEAR, IS A YEAR OF RELEASE, GRACE AND FULFILMENT!

AN INTERVIEW SESSION WITH THE INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR OF GREATER EVANGELISM WORLD CRUSADE (Pastor. Isaac V. Olori): Question: This year 2022, we know you have a theme to start the year, as the Church of Jesus Christ, what should be our focus, what should be our disposition for the year 2022? Answer: As a Church, we are part of the body of Jesus Christ, our focus, which we are using as our theme is “The Glorious Church” and that’s specifically what the body of Christ should be, when Jesus said am coming for the Church, a Church that has no spot, knows no blemish is the mind of Christ and that is our focus this year, we want to build a Glorious Church, if you look at the Society, there are Churches all over the place, but the character of Christ is becoming more and more difficult to find, so we want raise people who will be like Christ, like the early church did, that’s our passion and vision for the Ministry and I think that should be the desire of any good church. Question: If we look around, with the advent of Corona Virus and different viruses, we are certain that many more viruses will come as the years progresses, what should be the disposition of Christians in this time? Answer: For us, the Bible says; that all things work together for good to them that love God, Corona virus physically may look like an evil thing, but even in scriptures you can see that God can use anything and for Christians, the disposition is to change, not to look at the viruses that are coming, it will keep coming and changing, but we should focus on, how to utilize the moment, in fact the virus has opened a world stage for any believer(s) today, you can see virtual meetings, virtual evangelism and ministration has become the in-thing, the people and captain of industries in the economy are utilizing them, they are cutting down on movement and utilizing the best of it, taking advantage of the virus. For the believer is not to stay and cry, because God’s protection for, you is sure. For us, it has opened a new page and we are focusing on reaching the world, that’s why our services are connected online and can be seen anywhere in the world, these are the positives and we should focus on the positives of the pandemic, instead of dwelling and crying on new viruses that will come. Question: The Greater Evangelism World Crusade will be 50 this year, and the Ministry in some way is re-launching, what are we looking forward to as we celebrate this year of Jubilee, will there be a twist or change, what should we expect? Answer: First, we will like to appreciate God for keeping us as a Ministry for 50 years, is not an easy feat, so many Ministries start and, in few years, they fizzle out, but for us, with all the challenges we’ve been through, with the attacks from the enemy, we survived and we are here for 50 years. There is slogan we say: “The Vision Lives On”. The re-launch as it were, some of the founding members have gone and to keep their memories and most of the people in the ministry now, do not know how it started, and it is important for them to know the foundation and understand and maintain the vision of the ministry. The more we are ageing the more the coming of Christ is drawing closer and people of today focus more on material things instead of the things that matters more to God. So, part of the re-launching is to carry the new generation to key into the spirit of the vision. We have done some re-structuring, but We will be doing quite a number of activities to celebrate the Anniversary like Crusades, outreaches, seminars, conferences, concerts to see how to reach out and revive the spirit of the vision. Question: What distinguishes this 50th Anniversary Celebration from every other events you have done in the past? Answer: Fifty in the scripture, is very significant, has spiritual significant, because 50 for a people, we talk about Golden Jubilee, because it marks a jubilee for a people, it marks a release and there are specific instructions the scripture gave, even in the Bible, during the time of Jubilee, if someone is owing, the person should be set free; so Jesus is our Jubilee today and we are reminding ourselves that we are into Jubilee and the significant is that, it is a year of release!
